Weekend Escape in Vitina: Romancing along the «Road of Love»

Located at 200 kilometers from Athens, 55 kilometers from the town of Tripoli and at very close proximity to other popular winter destinations, such as the Menalo Ski Resort, the village of Vitina is, indeed, the Lady of Mountainous Arcadia. An angelic and picturesque area awaits for your visit and adoration and supremely boasts numerous outdoor activities for you to choose from whether it is hiking, cycling, touring the natural landscapes, rafting, kayaking or canyoning. Whatever you choose to do, it will constitute a rare experience because the tranquillity of the landscape and the beauty of the images of the region will speak straight to your heart.

We have, ourselves, fallen in love with one of the most romantic walks in mountainous Arcadia and we wish to share it with you. The actual location is called “Dromos tis Agapis” in Greek and translates to Road of Love.

The "Road of Love" did not acquire its name from the fact that numerous couples in love visiting the village of Vitina select to walk its course. Its name roots back to the old days because this is where the young people of the village used to come in order to flirt with each other “legally”, with marriage being their sole aim according to the ethics of the times.

The romantic route is not very long but it is, in fact, very pleasurable whether you choose to walk it or cycle it. Take your time and enjoy this famous romantic walk under the fragrant maple trees and the imposing sycamores.

At the west side of the village of Vitina you will come across the village of Paleo Chorio and the historical churches of Agion Apostolon (dating back to 1831 and boasting an exquisite wood-sculpted templon) and that of Kimisseos tis Theotokou dating back to 1847.

If you have time at your disposal to stay for the whole weekend, then do not miss the opportunity of the Weekend Escape Offer courtesy of Archontiko Kaltezioti Hotel. Within the private estate of Archontiko Kaltezioti, hospitality and pampering of guests does not limit to within the rooms. Seat back and relax, drinking fine wine from the restaurant’s cellar and enjoy it sip by sip as your lamb is been roasted in a wood furnace from the year 1860.
