Discover the beauty of Mani through hiking paths

On the middle leg of Peloponnese, the ancient city of Mani offers plenty of walking paths and invites you to discover all of its secrets. Starting from Gerolimenas, the picturesque port located 50 km. away from Gythio, make unforgettable walks in Mani and be enchanted by the landscape, while admiring the perched on steep cliffs tower houses and the magnificent sea views from above.

Drymos-Palaiohori

Upon arrival at Drimos village, we cross it and follow the steep concrete road at the exit that leads to the northwest. An unpaved road starts at the beginning of a turn, where you will see a hiking sign. We walk the dirt road and soon we find the beginning of the path. Hiking is easy through a path that quickly turns into an excellent cobbled road, leading us to the best preserved megalithic village of Mani.

Kotronas-Gonea-Sotiras Monastery

This route starts from Kotronas village square, the capital of Eastern Mani. At first we walk to the east in a cement road that passes in front of the Town Hall and ends at a "T". Turn right and follow the hiking signs which will lead you over the stone bridge until the beginning of the path that starts on your right. For a while the trail crosses olive lands, between dry stone walls and afterwards the uphill path turns into a cobbled path until the center of Gonea village.

Throkalou-Drymos

From Throkalou position, the path continues south, crosses rocks’ formation and reaches a stone wall. From there we have two options: a) following the path to our right and marching on the slope we move to Lakkous, Sarantaria, Polemita or Mina. b) choosing to follow the opening of the stone wall, we arrive at Palaiochori and Drimos on the east side of the mountain.

Flomohori-Makrynaros-Argilias

From Flomohori towards Zouda, after passing the turn of the road, we meet a shrine. There is the beginning and the signs of the path. The stone path slightly ascends but it is almost parallel to the motorway.  At the intersection we continue straight, according to the signs. After 1 hour of driving we end up to the megalithic settlement of Makrynaros and we find Saint George chapel, which is worth visiting.
