Spetsathlon, the biggest triathlon in Greece is returning to Spetses for 5^th consecutive year! On the weekend of May 5-7 2017, the beautiful island of Spetses will welcome the elite of the triathletes as well as the majority of the sport fans who are ready for the famous Spetsathlon.

Spetsathlon, except of sprint's distances (750 m, 25 km cycling, 5 km running) and Endurance (1.500 m swimming, 50 km of cycling, 10 km of running), includes a 1,000-meter swimming race, as well as the Cycling Tour of the island, offering visitors the opportunity to participate in an unforgettable sporting weekend.

At the heart of the cultural and athletic initiatives in Spetses, Poseidonion Grand Hotel, the emblematic hotel of the island, supports the triathlon race, with the aim to the promotion and the development of the island, as Sotirios Anargiros, the founder of the hotel, had envisioned.

Located at a distance of just 54 nautical miles from Athens and with a predominantly Mediterranean climate, Spetses is the ideal location for any athletic event since the temperatures are mild and the conditions fair and rather dry. Under Venetian rule it was known as Isola di Spezzie (island of fragrances) while further back in ancient times it was Pityoussa (pine-covered). With its naval tradition, a rich history and culture, the island of Spetses is the ideal choice for a Triathlon race of international scope.
