Voreina Gallery Suites in the medieval village of Pyrgos, constitutes a unique boutique hotel that promises to turn your stay into a highly experiential one in an arty way! Upon entrance to the boutique hotel the expectations of the art lovers will be surpassed as Voreina Gallery Suites have successfully established the concept of a habitable and functional gallery.
The use of contemporary art paintings within the hotel premises is not a mere matter of being trendy. Creations of numerous Greek artists have been used in the Suites and the communal areas in order to maintain a stream of inspiration to visitors and initiate a channel of communication either between the guest and art or between the guest and the beautiful settlement of Pyrgos. In essence, the key mission is to combine authentic hospitality with high standard services within an alternative and artistic ambience. Voreina Gallery Suites aims to eventually turn into a cultural meeting point via a series of exhibitions and art events where artists of different backgrounds can meet and exchange ideas.
One of the artists whose works are hosted within the luxurious premises of Voreina Gallery Suites is Stratos Kalfatis, born in Kavala in 1966 and now living and working in Thessaloniki. He studied photography at the Art Institute of Philadelphia in the USA (1991-1993) and his work has been featured in exhibitions in both Greece and abroad. Recent exhibitions: Festival Photomed - Festival de la Photographie Méditerranéenne, Sanary-sur-Mer, France (2011). "Time Within Us - Photographs from Turkey, Russia and Greece" (organization: Istanbul Modern, Moscow House of Photography Museum and Museum of Photography Thessaloniki (2010). FotoGrafia - Festival Internazionale di Roma (2009). "Archipelago", Kalfayan Galleries, Athens (2009). "Journal 1998 - 2002", Villa Audi, Beirut (2008). In 2005 he participated at the international photography project "European Eyes on Japan / Japan Today, Vol.8". During the same year, he participated at the International Photography Triennial in Tampere Finland. Some of his works from the series 'Archipelago' were presented in 2006 at the 10th Venice Biennale of Architecture.
