After resting in one of the magnificent rooms of Ananti City Resort with a breathtaking view of the city of Trikala and enjoying your breakfast, you will meet with your guide at a specific point where you will start your hike, totaling 5 hours walking.

Our trekking tour starts from the square of Kastraki village, following the same old paths the monks used to use, which wind their way amongst the tall rock-towers. We pass beneath the ruined monastery of Pantocrator on the north side of the rock of Dupiani and then the path takes us to the heart of the lush forest reaching the abandoned and restored Monastery of “Ipapanti”. Then our trail goes up to the rocks and takes us to the cliff top monasteries. We will have enough time to visit two of the most important ones: Megalo Meteoro, and Varlaam. 

This route requires a good physical condition and will cover a total distance of 8 km.

Finally, the package does not include the entrance to the monasteries of Great Meteora and Barlaam, which costs € 3 per person per monastery.

EXTRA TIP: Suitable walking shoes required - no flip-flops. Suggestions: walking boots or sneakers, closed toe shoes with non-slip soles.
