Andros island through the photographic lens of Andreas Embirikos

Andros island through the photographic lens of Andreas Embirikos

Poet and novelist Andrea Embirikos unfolds a different angle of his multitalented character through a unique exhibition of photography. After all, it is well known that the famous Greek artist loved photography and he always captured with his lens, faces and situations, through his private life. His photographic shots seem to apply to today although taken in the past. Images of people, faces, real moments in time make his photos so alive that captivate the eye. With people being his central point of reference, he managed to compile an absolutely amazing photographic material and the exhibition hosts only some of the most significant captions.

A close friend of Andreas Embirikos and famous poet himself, Odisseas Elitis, had mentioned once that the multitalented artist was very passionate about photography and sometimes over-persistent in achieving the perfect finishing result that he was seeking for. This further proves the relationship of the artist with photography as such but also how he wanted to reach perfection in the art of photography.

The exhibition is titled “The lens of the poet…” and commences tomorrow the 1st of August. It will remain open to the public up until the 15th of August hosted within a fully renovated building at a central point of Gavrion port on the island of Andros.
