5 festive Christmas cocktails
This Christmas, surprise your guests serving them some amazing festive cocktails, made by you! We present you 5 great recipes, as seen at bbcgoodfood.com.
White mulled wine
2 bottles cheap-ish white wine, medium-dry is good
500ml bottle light cider
150ml elderflower cordial
zest 2 lemons (pared into strips using a vegetable peeler)
2 cinnamon sticks
1 vanilla pod, split
4-5 tbsp caster sugar
Put all the ingredients into a pan and heat until steaming but not boiling. Ladle into mugs or glasses to serve, while you keep the rest warm on a low heat.
White Christmas cocktail
100ml vanilla vodka
160ml coconut cream
1 tbsp crème de cacao
½ tsp grated nutmeg
2 chocolate wafers, to serve
Put a few ice cubes in a cocktail shaker with the vanilla vodka, coconut cream, crème de cacao and grated nutmeg. Shake and strain into two mini milk bottles (see tip). Pop a rolled chocolate wafer in each.
Amaretto fizz
400ml Disaronno
600ml orange juice
2 x 75cl bottles sparkling wine
strips orange zest
Mix Disaronno, orange juice and sparkling wine in a jug. Add a strip orange zest to each glass, if you like.
Christmas Cosmopolitan
500ml vodka
500ml ginger wine
1l cranberry juice
juice 5 limes, keep zest for garnish
sliced stem ginger
Mix the vodka and ginger wine in a jug. Stir in the cranberry juice, lime juice and some sliced stem ginger. Garnish with lime zest, if you like.
Salted caramel rum hot chocolate
25ml dark rum
2 tsp dulce de leche or thick caramel
150ml whole milk
50g milk chocolate, chopped
In a small bowl, mix together the rum and the dulce de leche until smooth then set aside.
Warm the milk in a saucepan over a medium heat until simmering. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate and stir until melted. Pop the pan back on the heat until warm then add the rum mixture and a pinch of flaky sea salt. Pour into a mug and serve.
