Congratulations to the first Greek finisher, Michalis Parmakis, for participating and making it happen

Everybody was there at 9 am sharp for the 30th Athens Classical Marathon on Sunday the 11th of November.

This year’s main characteristic was the most amazing and dynamic participation in a Classical Marathon ever, with 26.000 runners of all ages and from all over the world making their way to Athens.

According to the Athens Classical Marathon results 2012, Raymond Bett from Kenya was the first finisher in the men’s category with a record race time of 2 hours, 11 minutes and 36 seconds.Kenya seems to have done splendidly in this year's Marathon as the second, third, fourth and fifth place were covered by Bett’s compatriots.

As far as the first Greek finisher is concerned, his name is Michalis Parmakis from Triton Chalkidikis Athletic club, with an exquisite race time of 2 hours, 21 minutes and 56 seconds.

The Greeks did very well in this year’s 5 Km Mararhon course too, with runner Kostas Nakopoulos finishing first -in the men’s category- with a race time of 12 minutes and 16 seconds and Athina Kini with 13 minutes and 25 seconds in the women’s category.
