Syglino: Taste the famous local delicacy of Mani

Winter in Mani is not only beautiful, but also tasty. Syglino is a traditional product of Mani which gives you one more reason to visit this historic destination of Peloponnese region.

The preparation period of syglino is around November. The men slaughtered the pigs, salted the meat and they smoked it. They maintained it all year-round in large clay pitchers, in olive oil or even pork fat. It is considered to be the most tasty winter delicacy, accompanied with wine or ouzo. It also gives extras taste to omelets, beans, pasta sauces, frumenty and traditional pasta (chylopites).

Pork in Mani, was -and continues to be- the "companion" of every household.
