The Big Blue of Ios beaches

Ios island has always been famed for its stunning beaches! The island cherishes as many as 87 km of a coastline, of which 32 km are sandy beaches. Ios luckily boasts a very sound road network that provides visitors with easy and direct access to most of those. Of course, there are plenty of off-road routes if you are seeking for an adventure. Magical places will be reached that will reward you for your willingness to go a bit further beyond than the usual! It is also worth mentioning that in Ios you will swim in four blue flag beaches from a total of 22 awarded ones on the 24 islands of the Cyclades.

Even if you are staying in Ios for a short while only, there are two beaches that you must visit! The stunning sandy stretch of Mylopotas is the first out of the two and this is where the hip and stylish Ios Palace Hotel & Spa is located.

The second is Manganari beach where the film “Grand Bleu” was filmed and which consists of five small coves with crystalline waters.

At the eastern coast of the island, you will find the beach of Kalamos which will offer you a tranquil swim setting. Right next to it, the secluded beaches of Plaka and Pappa. One of the most popular beaches of the island is Koumbara beach at close proximity to the port.

Water sports enthusiasts should head to Psathi beach. Also appealing is Ayia Theodoti beach, Kampaki and Plakotos, Petalidi, Neraki, Diamoudia, Sapounohoma, Klima, Pikri Nero, as well as the beautiful Valmas beach, Kolitsanoi and Tzamaria.

The majority of beaches offer water sports facilities, such as water ski, windsurfing, canoeing, pedalo, banana tubes and plenty more. The island also has a well organized diving school where you can rent equipment for your adventures.
