Limeni: Spellbinding scenery

Limeni: Spellbinding scenery

Here, the stone tower houses almost touch the emerald waters, the blinding light of Mesa Mani makes the laconic land feel even more eerie, and the myths become entangled with history, composing a spellbinding scenery.

At a distance of 5 kilometers from Areopolis, Limeni is probably the most picturesque seaside settlement of Mesa Mani, which stands out with its wild beauty, as it pops up in a small bay with almost transparent waters, between Itilo and Areopoli.

The motherland of the Mavromichalis family, Limeni carries the rich history of the Revolution, as well as the myth, according to which the grandfather of Petrombeis Mavromichalis, George, married a fairy he met on a secluded beach. Since then, the entire family has been called "born by a fairy", thanks to their impressive beauty. Here, the Petrobei's Palace, with the four-story tower and the arched openings, has an imposing presence on the landscape.

At Limeni, diving from the imposing rocks is almost necessary. In fact, the underground sweet waters running from the mountain reach the sea, making the dip even more refreshing.

The tavern of Takis, which has been awarded as one of the best fish taverns in Greece, is a necessary stop for fish by the sea.
