Tsitsanis Museum: A must see in the city of Trikala
The first museum for the life and work of Vasilis Tsitsanis, the famous Greek songwriter and bouzouki player opened its gates in the city of Trikala this March.
Tsitsanis’ work, influenced by people’s daily struggles for justice, sorrows and pains from love, dominates in Greeks life for more than 60 years. Hundreds of Tsitsani’s songs are of rare beauty and authenticity. His songs still express Greek people and are a source of strength, hope, comfort, sympathy, love and affection for all aspects of the country’s modern history.

Housed in the building of the old prison of Trikala, next to Litheos River and a few meters away from Koursoum Mosque, the building itself exudes an aura of history and culture. There you will admire the Ottoman hamam, dating since the 16th century, you will travel in the years of the civil war through the historic building and you will discover the great work of Tsitsanis, through information and important documents about his life and songs.
The building of Tsitsanis Museum is open to visitors from 9:00 to 15:00, with free entrance.
