The “Ursa Trail” or else the bear’s trail in Metsovo received European recognition, according to Deutsche Welle.

"Ursa" means bear in the Vlach language. A hiking trail in Metsovo borrows its name from Ursa. On January the «Ursa Trail», ie the path of the bear, received by the European Hiking Federation (ERA) "European Certification for Hiking Trails » (Leading Quality Trail - Best of Europe). Only 15 tracks have the recognition as the best European trails.

The basic criteria for the recognition is to maintain the physical form of the territory. The signaling of the trail ensures the orientation of hikers. According to the deputy chairman of the European Hiking Federation Alois Steppe, "The other important aspect of the certification are the opportunities arising for the tourism industry in the region. The promotion of the trail will grow more and more interest in local gastronomy and the attractions of the area. " In other words, the path turns into a tourist destination and will create jobs.
