“The sea was calm and beautiful. The colours are intense—light blue water, pink sand. Paradise.” With these words, TripAdvisor describes one of the top 10 beaches in the world, no other than Elafonisi in Crete. The heavenly beach of Chania featured for one more year in the list of the 25 most beautiful in the world and climbed to the ninth position of TripAdvisor 2017 Travelers' Choice Awards.

Located at the northeastern tip of Chania region, Elafonissi beach is a nature miracle and it enchants visitors with its pinkish sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. 75 km. away from Chania, Elafonissi is a tiny islet 200 m. from the beach, while in between a shallow lagoon is formed. Tripadvisor’s readers were enchanted by the wonderful sand and the blue green waters of the beach, while many of them compared it with exotic beaches of the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, the magical Elafonisi is the 2nd best beach in Europe, while 4 more Greek beaches appear in the same list. More specifically, Balos beach and lagoon took the 7th place, followed by Kleftiko beach in Milos. Agios Pavlos beach in Lindos, Rhodes, is in the 13th position of the top European beaches, while the exotic Simos beach in Elafonisos complements the top 20.
