Querini Castle: A journey to the Venetian history of Astypalaia

The Venetian Querini castle is the most typical and photographed attraction of Astypalaia island. Built on the top of the whitewashed Chora of Astypalaia, it stands proudly, inviting you on a journey in the 15th century.

The beautiful castle that offers a special charm in Chora Astypalaia, is architecturally a fortified settlement. Typically characteristic of the local architecture the whiter-than-white houses built under the castle one next to the other.

If you are into history and civilization, then by entering the Castle you will find numerous churches and rare wall paintings that will deserve all of your admiration.

Your promenade around the castle will have as its highlights the blue and white church of Portaitissa and St. George, as well as the amazing view downwards to the rest of the island.

For the most elegant stay in Astypalaia, choose Melograno Villas, that are located 200 m. away from the picturesque Chora of the island. All three villas cover areas between 110 and 120 sq. meters in total, thus guaranteeing mobility in spacious living-rooms and bedrooms. In addition, whichever villa you finally select, they all promise to relax you and invigorate you with their outdoor private Jacuzzi spa gazing the stunning views of the Aegean’s big blue.
