Mountain Ziria is located in the county of Korinthia in the Peloponnese and its total altitude counts 2.374 meters. The quickest way to approach it is via the road which leads to the town of Trikala. The elders call the area Kyllini instead of Ziria, according to one of the versions in history which named it after the leader of an Arcadian clan that had settled there in the past. That same clan moved and settled in the neighboring county of Ilia...‘taking’ the name alongside with them.

There are, nonetheless, other versions about the highest mountain in the county of Korinthia that support the possibility that the mountain’s name ‘Ziria’ originates from the Slavic word for acorn...

On your way there, you will come across the plains of Dasia and the homonymous lake. Aim for the two mountaineering shelters on either the eastern or western side of the mountain which constitute the best starting points for your excursions.
